The idea for this history book was born on April 10, 2001. On that date Karen McCarter, David Turner and Rose Rulon first talked about how the upcoming 50th anniversary of the founding of the Eastern Shore of Virginia Chamber of Commerce should be observed. Several ideas were considered. Each idea varied in size and involvement. The most elaborate idea called for a hard-backed book and pictorial documentation as the most appropriate way to celebrate the hard work and creative ideas of Chamber leaders over half a century. The end result of that brainstorming session was not only an eloquent expression of reverence for the last 50 years of this organization but a cooperative effort by a number of dedicated volunteers and a book like no other ever produced in the Delmarva area.
